Coding After The Apocalypse

Wired published a fascinating piece about Virgil Dupras, a Canadian programmer that is working on Forth and Collapse OS, a low level postfix programming language and an operating system for 8-bit controllers. The idea of both is to allow civilisation to utilise and program any remaining tech more easily after the end of days.

Quantum Key Distribution Satellite Test

The University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in Beijing and Stellenbosch University in South Africa have successfully tested a quantum key distribution communication link across 12,900km using the Jinan-1 satellite. The satellite sends encryption keys using quantum entangled photons, which are invalidated if the electrons are observed, if the transmission is intercepted.
