Information security researcher Droogie registered the licence plate NULL thinking the plate would allow his car to be invisible to the system. Instead, he got assigned $12,000 worth of traffic tickets that had been NULL data for the licence plate field!

This week I caught up with some episodes of The David McWilliams Podcast. I like the format of the episodes where his friend asks the (sometimes leading) questions which makes the content more of a conversation down the pub rather than a sermon in the church of behavioural economics. The stat man Finn also sounds a bit like The Viper, so I picture The Viper in a smoke filled room speaking in hushed tones over a laptop with Excel in full screen mode :-p.

The Guardian published a very informative interactive visualisation on UK exports and imports to and from Europe, with the hope of preparing people for changes in their post no-deal Brexit shop. The site highlights some top level items but also allows you to select any category of good to see that import and export flow. Turns out the UK exports £27m worth of potatoes to Ireland.

The interview is wide-ranging, from Colm's work and personal life to how Ireland is currently a beacon of light for supporting human rights in a lot of areas of policy and public opinion.

I've been listening to a great podcast this week by Naval Ravikant. The first set of episodes are commentary by Naval on a tweet storm he put out a while ago about how to get rich. Despite the sexy title, the content is actually about wealth creation and how best to leverage oneself into a position to build wealth, be that meaningful work, relationships, money, or all of the above. Each of the initial podcast episodes are tied together into one big megasode which is packed full of wisdom bombs.

Flight Carbon Calculator

The Guardian have released a flight carbon calculator, allowing you to select your starting and destination airports to see how much kilograms of CO2 emmissions are released per passenger on that return flight. it also shows you how many countries emit less CO2 per person per year compared to that flight. Aviation is responsible for 2% of global emissions and are set to at least double by 2050 :-(
